Two Holidays Added to 2013 Calendar

President Kent Chabotar has initiated changes to Guilford College’s 2013 calendar, resulting in two additional holidays. The changes are specifically for the 2013 calendar year.
Friday, July 5, and Tuesday, Dec. 31, will be free holidays for all regular employees. These additional holidays will not replace existing holidays, nor will they be charged as floating holidays. In addition to vacation each year, the College now provides 13 regular holidays, 2 floating holidays and emergency leave for staff employees.
“When limited budgets in uncertain economic times make it difficult for the College to provide adequate financial rewards for our employees,” Kent commented, “we look for other ways to show appreciation like adding extra holidays to the calendar. It’s also about spending more time with family and friends, pursuing hobbies, or even relaxing and doing nothing.”
