Quakers Ranked in Preseason ODAC Indoor Track and Field Polls

Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) track and field coaches picked Guilford’s men seventh and women eighth in their preseason indoor track and field polls.

The women’s team hopes to improve on its seventh-place finish at the 2012 ODAC Indoor Championships with the help of veterans Jodie Geddes ’14 and Jasmine O’Neill ’15. Jasmine set a school record in the 800-meter run in 2:37.48, and Jodie completed the 200-meter dash in 32.74, the third-fastest time in school history.

Jodie and Jasmine also paired up with teammates Emily Cash ’15 and Colleen Gonzalez ’14 to demolish the previous school record in the women’s distance medley relay by nearly 90 seconds with a time of 14:47.38.

The men’s team will look to key returners Chad Norton ’14, David Cason ’14 and Josh Farrar ’13. Last season the men finished fifth at the ODAC Indoor Championships.

Chad knocked off 12 seconds from his previous mark to set a school record and win the 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:21.04. Josh finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 52.28, second-fastest in school history. David competed in the mile where he finished fifth overall with a time of 4:28.62, which ranks fourth in school history.

The teams began thier season Dec. 1 at the JDL College Kick-off Classic and will resume competition Jan. 20 at the Winston-Salam State Open.
