Guilford Holds Undergraduate Symposium Feb. 22

The sixth Guilford Undergraduate Symposium (GUS) will take place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22. The deadline for submitting projects is Feb. 11.

Students representing a wide variety of departments and programs will be giving performances, presenting original research and participating in panel discussions in a number of venues across campus.

The symposium is an exciting opportunity to highlight students’ academic achievements from across all majors, programs, departments and divisions for the entire community. College trustees, prospective students and members of the Board of Visitors will have the opportunity to see many of the presentations and performances.

Symposium organizers are accepting submissions through Monday, Feb. 11, from students who wish to participate. Initial submission requires a title, the name of the faculty sponsor and/or project mentor and the type of presentation (short talk, poster, exhibition, performance, etc.). The abstract for publication in the symposium program can be submitted later.

Students, faculty and staff should visit the GUS Moodle for more information or to submit a presentation. Information about past Guilford Undergraduate Symposia is available on the GUS web page.

Guidelines: Individual oral/performance presentations will be 15 minutes long, including two to three minutes for questions and discussion. Panel/group discussions will be 30 minutes long, including two to three minutes for questions. Posters and exhibits will be on display for the entire symposium. They will be attended by the presenter for one assigned hour. Posters should be no larger than 48″ x 36″ in landscape or portrait orientation. For exhibits, presenters should discuss the space needed with the organizers.

Contact any of the GUS organizers listed on the Web page with questions or requests for more information.
