Article Highlights Environmental Studies Program

A story in the TriadCareers section of the Greensboro News & Record focused on Guilford’s Environmental Studies Program and Mindy Mock ’05, a land protection and outreach specialist for Piedmont Land Conservancy.
The program takes an interdisciplinary approach: Students who major in environmental studies are required to have a second major as well. Mindy majored in life sciences along with environmental studies.
“When I started the program I was hoping to get a job with an environmental nonprofit,” Mindy told the paper. “I was really lucky to end up at Piedmont Land Conservancy.”
The program’s interdisciplinary nature helps prepare students for life after Guilford, said Angie Moore, an associate professor of geology and a coordinator of the Environmental Studies Program.
“The cool thing is there are a lot of diverse ways to pair environmental studies with another degree to make a unique and strong case for oneself in the job market,” Angie said.
